Description / Table of Contents:
The oxygen parameters u of the spinels CdV2O4 (a = 8.695 Å; u = 0.394), FeV2O4 (a = 8.453 Å; u = 0.386) and ZnV2O4 (a = 8.409 Å; u = 0.385) have been determined. Alinear relation between a and u of the V(III) spinels MV2O4 (M = Cd, Co, Fe, Mg, Mn, Zn) has been found. If tetrahedrally coordinated cations with small radii are replaced by cations with larger radii, a and u increase simultaneously in such a way, that the hole at the tetrahedral site increases while that at the octahedral site remains constant (V—O = 2.024 Å). From ionic distances ionic radii have been derived. They are compared with values from the literature.
Notes:
