Description / Table of Contents:
During the thermal treatment of AgVO3—V2O5 mixtures at 450-600°C or by cooling the melts down to 600-500°C two phases of AgxVm4+Vn5+Oy type are formed: phase I with x = 0.29-0.43; m = 0.32-0.44; n = 1.56-1.68; y = 4.96-5.05 (formally corresponding to Ag2(VO)2V10O28; and phase IIA, with X = 0.80-0.99; m = 0.06-0.20; n = 1.80 to 1.94; y = 5.32-5.46; these phases differ in their IR spectra and X-ray power diffraction patterns. After treatment with HNO3 a further phase IIB ist obtained, with x = 0.67-0.77; m = 0.05-0.09; n = 1.91-1.95; y = 5.22 - 5.36, formally corresponding to Ag4(VO)V10O28 V4+) deficient, the IR spectrum and X-ray power diagram of this phase resemble those of the sodium Vanadium γ-bronze.
Notes:
