Notes:
Summary The removal of separate osteosynthetic implants can be hampered by anatomic situation, scars or callus formation in the operative area. We developed a new high frequency position finder which facilitates intraoperative localization. Principle of the procedure is the alteration of a magnetic field by whirling currents. Our newly developed probe is as small as a pencil, can be sterilized and thus be used intraoperatively. In approaching a metallic body, it reacts by alteration of its acoustic frequency. The great advantage of this instrument is shortening the operating time, lowering trauma to the tissue and reducing exposure to X-ray.
