Notes:
The chemical changes taking place in polyethylene in the process of flame spraying have been investigated qualitatively and quantitatively by a spectroscopic method. It has been shown that oxidation occurs during the process with the formation of acidic, ketonic, ester carbonyls, associated hydroxyls and -C-O- bonds. The degree of unsaturation also increases due to growth in the number of vinyl and trans-vinylene groups. A small increase in the number of CH3 groups is also observed.
