    Notes: A relativistic quantum theory of spin- 1/2 fermions is presented that includes a charge algebra, as well as an operator that distinguishes between leptons and baryons. This, in effect, extends the Clifford algebra C4 of Dirac's γ matrices to C7. Moreover, the particle states Ψ are represented here by elements of C7 as products of projection operators, instead of column vectors. A number of important results are derived, and the theory serves as a foundation for constructing physical particle states as tensor products of the bare fermion states.

    Notes: Presents a study on the application of boundary element method (BEM) to the solution of elastohydrodynamic lubricated hard rolling contacts in comparison with a solution using finite difference method (FDM). The developed program for the solution of Reynolds equation and the elasticity equation give results of pressure distribution and the lubricant film thickness for steady state, isothermal Newtonian lubricant behavior. Compares the BEM results and the computer effort with the solution using FDM. Uses an iterative Newton-Raphson method to solve the non-linearity of the problem. Discusses the effects of Hertzian pressure and rolling speeds on film thickness and pressure distribution. The numerical scheme of BEM has proved to have the advantage of being very effective and optimum in terms of accuracy, less computational effort and good constancy compared to other applied numerical techniques.

    Notes: Abstract The lepton isodoublet (e −,v e ), the “bare” nucleon isodoublet (n,p), and their antiparticles are shown to constitute a basis of the irreducible representation of the Clifford algebraC 7. The excited states of these doublets, i.e., (μ −,ν μ ), (τ −,ν τ ),..., and (s 0,c +),(b0,t+) are generated by the products (e −,v e )⊗a and (n,p)⊗a, wherea≡2−1/2(e − e ++v e v e ) has the same quantum numbers as the photon state. The bare baryonss, c, b, t carry the strangeness, charm, bottom, and top quantum numbers. These lepton and bare baryon states are in one-to-one correspondence with the integrally charged colored Han-Nambu quarks, and generate all the observedsu(3) andsu(4) hadron multiplets.

    Notes: Abstract The detailed oxidation behavior of Fe–10Cr alloys, containing aluminumin the range of 2–8% by weight, was studied in pure oxygen at 1 atmpressure. The investigations were performed over the temperature range950–1050°C under cyclic conditions (3-hr cycles) in each case. Thecyclic-oxidation resistance, as measured by the specific weight-gain values,was observed to progressively improve with increasing aluminum content inthe alloy. For a particular aluminum content, however, the oxidationresistance decreased with increasing temperature. Following the initialtransient-oxidation period, a healing layer of chromia was established onthe four alloys. The lower-aluminum alloys (2–4% Al) were observedto end up with Fe-rich oxide scales under the experimental conditions atall temperatures, whereas those containing aluminum in the range of6–8% formed α-Al2O3 scales.
