The Crystal Structure of Monoclinic CaGa2O4Single crystals of monoclinic CaGa2O4 were prepared and investigated by X-ray goniometer data: a = 7.992, b = 8.830, c = 10.585 Å, β = 94.72°, space group C2h5 - P21/C. The monoclinic modification represents like the orthorhombic a new member of the stuffed tridymite structure.
    Notes: Von der monoklinen Modifikation der Verbindung CaGa2O4 wurden Einkristalle dargestellt und ihre Kristallstruktur mit Diffraktometer-Röntgendaten bestimmt; a = 7,992, b = 8,830, c = 10,585 Å, β = 94,72°, Raumgruppe C2h5 - P21/C. Ebenso wie die orthorhombische stellt auch die monokline Modifikation einen weiteren Vertreter der aufgefüllten Tridymitstrukturen dar.

    Description / Table of Contents: SrGa4O7 was prepared, and studied by single crystal x-ray investigations. It is isotypic with CaAl4O7 and CaGa4O7; space group C62h - C2/c a = 13.46, b = 9.19, c = 5.69 Å, β = 105.8°). Sr2+ as well as Ca2+ is surrounded by five oxygen ions in a trigonal-bipyramidal array.
    Notes: SrGa4O7 wurde dargestellt und an Einkristallen röntgenographisch untersucht. Es kristallisiert in der Raumgruppe C62h - C2/c (Gitterkonstanten a = 13,46, b = 9,19, c = 5,69, β = 105,8°) und ist mit CaAl4O7 sowie CaGa4O7 isotyp. Sr2+ ist ebenso wie Ca2+ im CaGa4O7 trigonal bipyramidal von fünf Sauerstoffionen umgeben.

    Description / Table of Contents: The compound CaGa4O7 was prepared and its structure determined by single crystal x-ray investigations. CaGa4O7 crystallizes monoclinic in the space group C62h—C2/c with the lattice constants a = 13.065, b = 9.079, c = 5.600 Å; β = 105.15°. Calcium has an unusual coordination. Its five nearest oxygen neighbours form a trigonal bipyramide. The gallium, however, is tetrahedrally coordinated.
    Notes: Die Verbindung CaGa4O7 wurde dargestellt und ihre Struktur mit Hilfe von Einkristallen röntgenographisch bestimmt. CaGa4O7 kristallisiert monoklin in der Raumgruppe C62h—C2/c mit den Gitterkonstanten a = 13,065, b = 9,079, c = 5,600 Å; β = 105,15°. Ungewöhnlich ist die Sauerstoffkoordination des Calciums, die man als verzerrte, trigonale Bipyramide auffassen kann, während Gallium tetraedrisch koordiniert vorliegt.

    Description / Table of Contents: Mixed Halogeno-Ethylendiamine Complexes of Osmium (III) and (IV)[OsCl4en] or [OsBr4en] and [OsCl4en]- or [OsBr4en]- are prepared by reaction of [Os(en-H)2en]Br2 with HCl or HBr. Whereas the chelate group behaves inert, the halogeno ligands become substituted easily, alltogether or partly. This enables the preparation of [OsI4en], of complexes of the type [OsClnBr4-en]-, n = 1-3, and of other compounds. The chemical properties and infrared spectra of the new complexes are discussed.
    Notes: [OsCl4en] bzw. [OsBr4en] und [OsCl4en]- bzw. [OsBr4en]- werden durch Umsetzung von [Os(en-H)2en] Br2 mit HCl bzw. HBr dargestellt. Während sich die Chelatgruppe inert verhält, lassen sich die Halogenliganden leicht ganz oder teilweise substituieren. Das ermöglicht die Darstellung von [OsJ4en], von Komplexen des Typs [OsClnBr4-nen]-, n = 1-3, und anderer Verbindungen. Die chemischen Eigenschaften und IR-Spektren der neuen Komplexe werden diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: On Alkali Metal Suboxides. VIII. Studies on the Structure of Cs40Preparation and crystal growth of the hardly accessible compound Cs40 are described. A single crystal investigation at -30°C leads to a structure corresponding to the formula [Cs11O3]Cs. Clusters of the composition Cs11O3, which are characteristic for caesium suboxides form a hcp arrangement, the single caesium atoms occupying the quasi-octahedral sites of this arrangement as in the case of NiAs.
    Notes: Darstellung und Einkristallzüchtung der schwer zugänglichen Verbindung Cs4O werden beschrieben. Die bei -30°C durchgeführte Strukturuntersuchung ergibt einen Aufbau gemäß der Formel [Cs11O3]Cs. Die für Cäsiumsuboxide charakteristischen Cs11O3-Gruppen bilden eine hexagonal dichte Anordnung, in der die einzelnen metallisch gebunden Cäsiumatome quasi Oktaederlücken nach Art des NiAs-Typs besetzen.

La2Zr2O7 crystallizes in the space group Oh7—Fd3m, a = 10.786 Å. The free oxygen parameter, which is characteristic for the pyrochlore structure, was found to be x = 0.295.
    Notes: Von der Verbindung La2Zr2O7 wurden erstmals Einkristalle dargestellt und röntgenographisch untersucht. La2Zr2O7 kristallisiert in der Raumgruppe Oh7—Fd3m mit der Gitterkonstanten a = 10,786 Å. Der für die Pyrochlorstruktur charakteristische Sauerstoffparameter hat den Wert x = 0,295.
