Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Gastroesophageal (GE) scintiscanning can detect GE reflux rapidly, noninvasively, accurately, and with a greater sensitivity than other diagnostic techniques. The patient received 300 μCi99mTechnetium DTPA. The GE pressure gradient was increased in increments by inflating an abdominal binder. The radioactivity in the esophagus and stomach was measured using a gamma camera on line to a data analyzer and computer. Following repair of hiatal hernia (SPV, pyloroplasty, gastropexy), no reflux could be detected in two-thirds (30/45) of our patients.
