Notes:
Summary The non-linearity of the ear has been studied to a sound pressure level of approximately −16 dB (relative to 2 · 10−4 μb). It was found that difference oscillations do not appear only above a certain value of the sound pressure level, but, at least in the examined range, do not require any minimal level. Up to a certain sound pressure level the amplitudes of the intermodulation are following a simple linear law which is allowing the introduction of an intermodulational constant. An electronic model which shows the same characteristic of intermodulation is described, and its acting is compaired with that of the ear.
