A water soluble ionomer with natrium propanesulfonate groups was prepared based on a linear polyurethane with high content of —NHCOO— structures. This compound was used both as macromolecular electrolyte and dopant ion in electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole, obtaining a molecular level polypyrrole-propanesulfonate polyurethane composite with electroconductive properties. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
