Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Silicone implants are biologically inert, are retaining form, are available in each size and consistency, are easily inserted and later on corrected. Prerequesite for a lasting effect is a sufficient soft tissue covering. Among 318 silicone implants in the face and 33 RTV-Silastic 382-implants, intraoperatively moulded for funnel chests, 6,2 % infections, 5,9 % dislocations, 2,5 % perforations and 5,6 % contour deficiencies occured. These complication rates are in the same range as those seen after implantation of autogenous material.
