Notes: In the fodder yeast production from sulfite spent liquor (SSL) the content of yeast-poisons in the SSL is of particular importance. The negative influence of sulfur dioxide has been known for a long time.Furfural is also named as a pollutant. Our own works showed that there is only an influence on the RS-analysis and in this way a decrease of yield is simulated but not genuine.Practical results and theoretical calculations showed that 1.0 gram of furfural is equivalent to 1.88 g RS.This knowledge is of importance for carrying out the production process by simultaneous change of the furfural concentration. In this way the charge of the fermenter with carbohydrate can be too high or too low.

Description / Table of Contents: The stability of the spinning process is characterized by rheological investigations. Starting from the force-elongationdiagram to characterize the elongational deformation of the filament bundle in the wet spinning process, the influence of a change of technological parameters of the viscose fibre production on the spinning stability is assessed with the help of the stability diagram. The influence of a change of the cellulose content of the viscose, of the spinning velocity as well as of the sulfuric acid content of the spin bath on the spinning stability is characterized by the stability diagram. It is found that changes of the technological parameters of the viscose fibre production show less influence on the spinning stability at a lower spinning velocity.

Notes: In fodder yeast production from sulphite spent liquor, sulphur dioxide is well-known as a yeast poison. The present paper deals with the detailed influence of sulphur dioxide. The experimental work was done in a laboratory fermenter under technical conditions. A decrease in biomass yield, and an increase in oxygen consumption, caused by increasing carbon dioxide production, were found.During the fermentation, there is no destruction of the carbonyl-bisulphite adduct to be observed. Sulphur dioxide has no influence on the crude protein content of yeast cells, and there is also no influence on the morphology of cells.
