    Description / Table of Contents: Die von den statistischen Copolymeren Styrol/Acrolein, [Poly(St/AL)], bzw. Styrol/Methylvinylketon, [Poly(St/MVK)], initiierte Copolymerisation von Methylmethacrylat (MMA) wurde untersucht. Dabei wurde gefunden, daß die Polymerisationsgeschwindigkeiten, Rp, den folgenden Gleichungen gehorchen: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ \begin{array}{*{20}c} {{\rm R}_p = {\rm const}.[{\rm poly}({\rm St}/{\rm AL})^{0,63} [{\rm MMA}]^{1,48}]} \hfill \\ {{\rm R}_p = {\rm const}.[{\rm poly}({\rm St}/{\rm MVK})]^{0,50} [{\rm MMA}]^{0,93}} \hfill \\ \end{array} $$\end{document}Die Aktivierungsenergien der Bruttoreaktionen betrugen 58,6 kJ/mol (14 kcal/mol) [Poly(St/AL)] bzw. 62,8 kJ/mol (15 kcal/mol) [Poly(St/MVK)].Weiterhin wurde die Wirkung einiger Metallionen auf die Polymerisationsgeschwindigkeit untersucht. Dabei wurde gefunden, daß Fe(II)-, Fe(III)- und Cu(II)-Ionen in entsprechenden Konzentrationen zu einer Beschleunigung der Polymerisation fülhren.
    Notes: The polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) initiated with styrene/acrolein, [poly(St/AL)], or styrene/methyl vinyl ketone, [poly(St/MVK)] statistical copolymers was kinetically studied. The rates of polymerization, Rp, were found to obey the following equations: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ \begin{array}{*{20}c} {{\rm R}_p = {\rm const}.[{\rm poly}({\rm St}/{\rm AL})^{0,63} [{\rm MMA}]^{1,48}]} \hfill \\ {{\rm R}_p = {\rm const}.[{\rm poly}({\rm St}/{\rm MVK})]^{0,50} [{\rm MMA}]^{0,93}} \hfill \\ \end{array} $$\end{document} The overall activation energies were 58,6 kJ/mol (14 kcal/mol) [poly(St/AL)] and 62,8 kJ/mol (15 kcal/mol) [poly(St/MVK)], respectively.Effects of several metallic ions on the polymerization rate were also studied, and thereby it was found that Fe(II), Fe(III), and Cu(II) ions at adequate concentrations are able to promote the polymerization.
