Pyrazolidines from Cycloadditions with the Azomethine Imine of Dimethyl 2-(1-Methylhydrazino)-maleateThe azomethine imine 2 which is formed base-catalyzed from the title compound 1 can be trapped by dipolarophiles. Thus dimethyl fumarate gives the pyrazolidines 4a und b, dimethyl maleate additionally 4c and d. The stereochemistry of the adducts is elucidated by chemical reactions, NMR spectra and  -  in the case of 4b  -  crystal structure analysis. Acrylonitrile and fumaronitrile behave similarly.
    Notes: Das aus der Titelverbindung 1 basenkatalysiert gebildete Azomethin-imin 2 kann durch Dipolarophile abgefangen werden. So gibt Fumarsäure-dimethylester die Pyrazolidine 4a und b, Maleinsäure-dimethylester daneben auch 4c und d. Die Stereochemie der Addukte wird durch chemische Reaktionen, NMR-Spektren und  -  im Falle von 4b  -  Kristallstrukturanalyse aufgeklärt. Acrylonitril und Fumaronitril verhalten sich ähnlich.

This was not possible with the dimethyl and diallyl esters 2a and 2e. Hydrolysis of 1b and 1c gives the corresponding oxalacetates 4.
    Notes: Die Titelverbindungen 2b-d - Zwischenstufen bei der Cyclisierung der 2-(1-Methylhydrazino)maleinsäure-dialkylester 1b-d zu den 5-Hydroxy-3-pyrazolcarbonsäureestern 3b-d - werden abgefangen und in kristalliner Form isoliert. Beim Dimethyl- und beim Diallylester 2a bzw. 2e gelang dies nicht. Die Hydrolyse von 1b und 1c führt zu den entsprechenden Oxalessigsäureestern 4.
