Notes: Abstract The influence of the three body v. d. Waals forces on properties of solid argon is calculated. The binding energy, zero point energy, elastic constants, and compressibility are computed using different two body forces fitted to the second virial coefficient of the gas and the lattice constant of the crystal.

Notes: Abstract It is shown that 0+ pairing vibrations are associated with rather large mean square values of the quadrupole moment, indicating a pronounced intrinsic deformation. This deformation is demonstrated using a two level model, where the pairing vibration can be treated analytically within the quasi boson approximation. The results are compared with the data for the 6.06 MeV state in O16.

Notes: Abstract A collective vibration in normal Fermi systems is described which represents the formation of virtual Cooper pairs and is closely connected with the phase transition from the normal to the superfluid state. Numerical results for this collective mode in O16 are reported and compared with experimental data on the 6.06 MeV 0+ level.

Notes: Abstract Thermal fluctuations of the order parameter in the superconducting state are investigated, particularly near the transition temperature, using the time dependent Ginzburg-Landau theory. These fluctuations give rise to a contribution of the dynamical conductivity, which strongly increases as the temperature is raised towardsT c , in contrast to the temperature dependence of the electromagnetic response due to the static order parameter. At the transition temperature this contribution joins continuously to the extra response (conductivity, susceptibility) which has been calculated and observed in the temperature region aboveT c , where it represents the onset of superconductivity in the normal state. Particularly the dynamical conductivity due to fluctuations is calculated and discussed for bulk material, thin films and thin wires belowT c . The temperature and frequency dependence should be observable in microwave experiments.

Notes: Abstract The transfer of Cooper pairs during the scattering of two superfluid nuclei just below the Coulomb barrier is discussed on a phenomenological and a microscopic level. This transfer is analogous to the Josephson current between two superconductors. Candidates for the observation of such an effect are heavy ions with a small difference in mass number. Numerical estimates are presented.

Notes: Abstract Recent experiments exhibit a strong regularity of the two-neutron (proton) binding energies in superconducting nuclei. Using BCS calculations by Soloviev and by Kisslinger and Sorensen for the rare earth and tin region, respectively, we show that the pairing rotational model accounts for this behaviour provided the deformation does not change appreciably when two neutrons or protons are added to the system. The model relates the degree of pairing to the ground state energies of neighbouring even-even nuclei and supplements the information coming from the odd-even effect.
