Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Pancreatic juice was obtained from normal experimental subjects and from suffering from pancreatitis and carcinoma, by direct cannulization of the pancreatic duct during operations of the pancreas or Oddi's sphincter. The content of trypsin inhibitor was determined. This was lower in patients with pancreatitis than in healthy subjects or in patients suffering from carcinoma. Checks during the post-operative course showed a lowering of the T.I. level in all groups within the first three post-operative days. The values became normal only from the fourth post-operative day onwards. Infusions of Trasylol, independent of dose, normalized these falls. The value of administration of Trasylol as prophylaxis of post-operative pancreatitis is pointed out.
