Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
The dependence of intrinsic viscosity of linear flexible-chain macromolecules in dilute solutions on the number of statistical segments N and the solvent power has been examined within the framework of the existing theories taking into consideration the draining of macromolecular coils. It is shown that a natural physical boundary exists between oligomers and polymers on both sides of which the intrinsic viscosity is a different function on N. Expressions for the dependence of the FLORY constant Φ and the constants in the MARK-KUHN-HOUWINK equation Kη and a on N, the draining of macromolecules and the excluded volumes parameter ε are obtained.
