Conclusions 1. Electron transfer is the principal mechanism for quenching of the triplet state of eosin and Bengal rose by cyanide complexes of W(IV), Mo(IV), Fe(II), and Fe(III). 2. The systems consisting of eosin or Bengal rose and cyanide complexes are not characterized by a single value of the internal barrier to electron transfer. 3. Values have been calculated for the internal barriers to the electron transfer reaction in quenching of the triplet state of eosin and Bengal rose by cyanide complexes of W(IV), Mo(IV), Fe(II), Fe(III), Co(III), and Ru(II), and values have been estimated for the internal barriers to self-exchange reactions of eosin and Bengal rose in the triplet state.
