    Notes: This paper proposes a cognitive approach of integrating marketing and intelligence views into a new "dual-perspective" SWOT framework. The new dimensions of SWOT are proposed to address the logical inconsistencies faced by marketing managers synthesizing SWOT components. By representing SWOT as the focus of practitioners' cognition, researchers and consultants can capture the variability in managerial core logic employed to integrate a coherent strategic situation from a dual intelligence-and-planning perspective. Directions are outlined for this new avenue of marketing research.

    Notes: Reverse logistics is one of the toughest supply chain challenges. One approach to achieving more effective reverse logistics is to adopt a relationship-oriented perspective. Two aspects of a relationship-orientation - trust and relationship commitment - were examined by surveying senior marketing and logistics personnel from the automotive aftermarket industry. Relationship commitment was found to mediate the relationship between trust and reverse logistics performance. Reverse logistics program performance was found to be more effective and efficient when relationship commitment was present.

    Notes: Many firms are placing greater emphasis on managing returned product. Reverse logistics programs are being used to recover assets that would otherwise be lost. Research results are presented covering reverse logistics programs in the electronics industry, specifically among firms selling through catalogs. The paper looks at how reverse logistics performance and satisfaction with reverse logistics service are influenced by industry, firm size/sales volume, and internal or external assignment of responsibility for disposition. The results are mixed. Performance is significantly impacted by sales volume, while industry effects significantly impact satisfaction. Neither performance nor satisfaction was significantly influenced by location of responsibility for disposition.

    Notes: Automatic replenishment systems that restock inventory based on actual demand triggers rather than relying on long-range forecasts and layers of safety stock have been implemented in a great number of firms in recent years. Now these same firms are taking supply chain cooperation to another level through involvement in collaborative planning/forecasting/replenishment (CPFR). The results of a recent survey assessing current levels of involvement in cross-organizational collaboration among firms utilizing automatic inventory replenishment are presented. The results provide strong support for positive associations between high levels of CPFR and implementation of operating process change and information system capabilities. Results supported only a very weak association between CPFR and effectiveness in achieving operational performance goals.
