Notes: Xanthopterin wird durch 24 stdg. Inkubation mit Schweineleberhomogenat in Leukopterin und ein noch unbekanntes zweites Produkt umgewandelt. Aus kurzzeitig mit Xanthopterin bebrüteten Leberhomogenaten lassen sich nach Enteiweißen mit Aceton 1-2% des Xanthopterins als 7-Acetonyl-xanthopterin (III) isolieren. Ersetzt man beim Enteiweißen das Aceton durch andere CH-acide Komponenten unter Zusatz von Methanol, so werden Spaltprodukte der entsprechend substituierten Xanthopterin-Derivate (z. B. V) erhalten. Ein Reaktionsschema wird diskutiert.
