Notes:
Raman spectra of the aromatic solubilizate in the ternary system, non-ionic surfactant aromatic water, are indicative of benzene in a hydrophobic liquid-like environment and of pyridine in a hydrophilie, possibly aqueous environment. The non-ionic surfactants studied were of the alkylphenol- and alkyl-polyoxyethylene type. Addition of traces of water to a solution of Triton X-100 in benzene leads to the appearance of a water spectrum which suggests that 1:1 hydrogen-bond complexes between individual ether groups of the polyoxyethylene chain and water have formed in reversed micelles.
