Summary The well known microchemical precipitation reactions of potassium iodate with barium, strontium and calcium as well as of urotropine and potassium hexacyanoferrate with calcium, magnesium and lithium were examined and checked. The studies were intended to yield information as to whether and to what extent these reactions are suited to the detection of these elements within a semimicro separation scheme for didactic purposes. Special attention was given to the possible interferences by accompanying materials and changes in tho pH, that might result in a change in the crystal pattern. The findings are illustrated by a number of microphotographs.
