The Raman spectra of gaseous and solid bis(trifluoromethyl)peroxide, (CF3)2O2, have been recorded from 20 to 1300 cm-1. The infrared spectrum of the solid has been investigated from 35 to 1300 cm-1. The far infrared spectrum of the gaseous phase was recorded from 20 to 250 cm-1. A reassignment of the low frequency fundamentals has been made. Both CF3 torsional modes have been observed in the solid and at least one in the gaseous phase. The barrier to internal rotation of the CF3 top has been calculated to have a value of 0.73 kcal mol-1 in the gaseous phase.
