Notes: Abstract The continuum energy distributions of a totally eclipsing binary system GG Cas at phases 0 . P 903 and 0 . P 003 in the wavelenght range λλ3200–7600 Å have been presented and discussed. The flux of continuum of the secondary star seems to dominate longward of λ4500 Å. The spectral types of the systemic components are found to be as B4+K0.

Notes: Abstract The evolutionary processes of close binary stars have been examined. It is found that there is a strong deficit of binaries evolving in CaseA in the whole mass range. Probably the binary stars having binary separation corresponding to CaseA evolution cannot form.

Notes: Abstract The observational data of Algols have been examined in order to clarify the implication of the assumption concerning the orbital angular momentum loss on their orbital period change. It is found that the agreement between theory and observational data of Algols is much better when a nonconservative approach of evolution is adopted.

Notes: Abstract In the wavelength range 350 to 650 nm, the flux distribution of comet West (1975n) is presented for various dates following perihelion passage. The variations with heliocentric distance, in the flux of the emission features of the CN band at 388 nm, the C2 bands at 474 nm, 516 nm and 563 nm and Na at 589 nm, have been discussed. It is concluded that the comet was dust rich.

Notes: Abstract The period variations of TV Cassiopeiae between 1901 and 1977 are discussed in the light of the period change model proposed by Biermann and Hall. During each period decrease 4.0×10−6 M ⊙ of mass is transferred from the secondary star to the primary. The average observable mass transfer rate is found to be 4.3×10−7 M ⊙ yr−1. This average rate corresponds to the thermal time-scale of the mass-losing star.

Notes: Abstract The evolutionary process of semi-detached binary systems is examined on the basis of non-conservation of orbital angular momentum. We conclude that the semi-detached binary systems follow Type B evolution.

Notes: Abstract Spectrum scans of the RS CVn-type eclipsing binary star AR Lac at different phases in the wavelength range λλ3200–7600 Å taken through Hilger and Watts monochromator equipped with 104-cm telescope of Uttar Pradesh State Observatory, Naini Tal, have been presented and discussed. By subtracting the reduced fluxes of the spectrum scan obtained during the totality of the primary eclipse from the fluxes of the spectrum scans obtained outside the eclipse, the continuum energy distribution data of the primary star of AR Lac have been derived.

Notes: Abstract The light curves of eclipsing binary DI Pegasi inU, B. andV filters have been presented and discussed. Photometric elements of the system have been determined. Using the colour indices, we estimate absolute dimensions and discuss the evolutionary status of the system.

Notes: Abstract TheUBV photometric observations of the eclipsing binary V364 Cas have been discussed. Two sets of photometric elements, one based on the Russell and Merrill methods and the other based on Kopal's new method of the analysis of the light curves of eclipsing binary stars in the frequency-domain, have been derived. Using the observed colour indicesU-B andB-V, the spectral types of the systemic components are estimated. An examination of all the available times of minimum light of V364 Cas does not reveal any change in its orbital period.

Notes: Abstract Spectrum scans of the head of Comet Bradfield (1980t) covering the wavelength range λλ365–640 nm were made on two nights when the heliocentric distance of the comet varied from 0.55 to 0.58 AU. The emission features of the CN band at λ388 nm and Swan band sequence of C2 at λ474 nm, λ516 nm, and λ563 nm are identified and absolute fluxes in these bands as well as in the continuum are derived. The continuum energy distribution curves of the comet have been compared with those of the Sun and the star β Crv (G5 III). An estimate of the number of C2 and CN molecules in the head of the comet has been made through the measured intensities of their respective bands lying in this region.
