Notes: Summary 1. An investigation was made of the reaction of hydrazine with dicarboxylic acids at a ratio of reactants of 2 moles and more of hydrazine per mole of dicarboxylic acid. 2. “Polyaminotriazoles” were synthesized from the following dicarboxylic acids: docosanedioic, sebacic, azelaic, adipic, glutaric, succinic, and 5,5′-thiovaleric. The properties of the products were investigated. 3. The hydrochloride and sulfate of “polyoctamethyleneaminotriazole” were prepared, and also the “poly-N-acetalaminotriazole.” The properties of these substances were investigated.

Notes: Summary 1. A polyamide was preparedfrom diglycolic acid and 1,6-hexanediamine. 2. Polyamides were prepared from 3,3-(ethylenedioxy)bipropylamine and dicarboxylic acids, namely, adipic, azeile and sebacle. 3. Mixed polyamides were prepared from 6-caprolactam and 3,3′-(ethylendiaxy)bipropylamine adipate and from 1,6-hexanediamine adipate and 3,3−ethylenedioxy)bipropylamien adipate the tectanus being taken in various proportions. 4. It was shown that the introduction of an ether oxygen into the repeating melt of a polymaide macromolecule results in a lower melting point and a higher solubility, as compared with a polyamide having the same length of repeating unit, but not containing ether linkages. 5. It was found that an ether oxygen in the dicarboxylic acid residue brings about a much greater lowering of the melting point of the polyamide than an ether oxygen in the diamine residue.

Notes: Summary 1. The hydrazine salts of sebacic and phthalic acids were prepared and their properties were investigated. 2. The polycondensation of sebacic acid with hydrazine at a molar ratio of 1:1 leads to the formation of a polyhydrazide. 3. The polycondensation of dicarboxylic acids with hydrazine at a molar ratio of one of the acid to two and more of the hydrazine under pressure leads to the formation of a “polyaminotriazote.” 4. A mechanism was proposed for the formation of polymers containing 4-amino-4-H-1,2,4-triazole units.

Notes: Summary 1. The oxidative chlorophosphonation of a solid paraffin was studied. By employing high oxygen passage rates it is possible to introduce up to 29% phosphorus into the polymethylene chain and obtain an oligomer, in which, on the average, one phosphonyl group is present for each two methylene groups. 2. Some of the properties of the obtained polymethylenephosphonic acids were studied.

Notes: Conclusions 1. The influence of halogen-containing side groups in modified polystyrene on thermal stability has been studied. 2. At low concentrations, chlorine atoms inhibit degradation; iodine accelerates degradation.

Notes: Summary 1. A study has been made of interchain-exchange reactions, reading to the synthesis of polyesters and polyamides, in compounds having amide and ester linkages. 2. It has been shown that, in presence of free hydroxyl, carboxyl, or amino groups, exchange reactions of the alcoholysis, acidolysis, or aminolysis types respectively occur at ester linkages. Amide linkages are broken only by amino and carboxyl groups; they are stable toward hydroxyl groups. 3. It has been found that no exchange reaction occurs between diethyl adipate and N,N′-hexamethylenebisacetamide in absence of catalyst; it occurs only in presence of an acid catalyst. 4. It has been shown that a narrow fraction of a polyester undergoes considerable change when subjected to prolonged heating: interchain exchange reactions occur, resulting in the formation of a more heterogeneous material, the distribution curve for which is similar to that of the original unfractionated polyester obtained by the polycondensation of adipic acid with ethylene glycol.

Notes: Conclusions 1. The Arbuzov rearrangement of triethylphosphite with chloromethylated polystyrene was investigated. 2. At 100°, the formation of the corresponding esters of polymeric phosphinic acids with linear structure proceeds at a low rate.
