Notes:
Libraries face increasing challenges as well as opportunities, when they add electronic information resources to their services. Examples of such challenges are client/server (C/S) databases, for which libraries must assume significant and ongoing local administrative/maintenance responsibilities, and CD-ROM-based resources, which can impose severe access limitations. In the Purdue University Libraries, the implementation of a Windows Terminal Server (WTS) thin client system has dramatically reduced the administrative load associated with access to C/S resources. At the same time, it has increased the potential availability of its other electronic resources, while also providing enhanced security and more meaningful usage statistics.
