Description / Table of Contents: Splitting of the alkyl cyclophosphines (C2H5P)4-5 and (CH3P)5 by alkali metals in tetrahydrofurane yields alkali phosphides of the type MeRP—(PR)n—PRMe (R = C2H5, CH3; Me = Li, Na, K and n = 2,3). The latter react with MgBr2 forming cyclic magnesium phosphides (see “Inhaltsübersicht”), which upon hydrolysis yield RPH2 and (RP)n and which react with α,α′-dipyridyl to Mg(α,α′-dipy)2 · 3 THF and (RP)n. Pure (C2H5P)4 and (C2H5P)5 can be prepared by reaction of MeRP—(PR)n—PRMe (R = C2H5; Me = K; n = 2,3) with BrCH2—CH2Br. With CH3I alkyl-cyclophosphines yield 1:1 adducts. The 31P—NMR spectra of the compounds are discussed.
