Notes: This paper reports the results of the operation, under active computer control, of a high-voltage (400 kV) injector. The automation system uses a microcomputer placed on the high-voltage deck of the ion source, which takes over some of the process control decisions, and a master IBM-PC at ground potential. Various ion beams (p, H+2, H+3, d, He+, He2+) have been produced, proving the reliability of the system. A maximum value of 460 kV accelerating potential has been reached during the tests. The beam fulfills the requirements for the operation of a room-temperature IH linac. By using a modular expandable computer system the acceleration voltage is continuously adjusted keeping its standard error within 0.1%. A future enlargement of the injector has been taken into account and the upgrading of the control system for an electron cyclotron resonance ion source would be very simple. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: Abstract Theg-factor of the 9/2+ 96.7 keV excited state with a half-lifeT 1/2=18.6(5) ns in79Rb populated in the79Br(3He, 3n) reaction has been measured by the TDPAD method. The experimentalg-factorg exp=+1.117(16) has been analysed in the frame of particle-rotor models and gave evidence for a large deformation of this state.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary A new microgravimetric method for determining cobalt as [Co(C12H8N2)2]· · (SCN)2 is described. The precipitant is an aqueous solution of o-phenanthroline hydrochloride in the presence of ammonium thiocyanate. The procedure permits the determination of cobalt even in the presence of Na, K, Ca, Sr, Ba, Be, Sc, Al, Cr, and NH4 + without previous masking.

Description / Table of Contents: (Perhalomethylthio)heterocycles, XIV. Preparation and Properities of N-Substituted Tetrakis(trifluoromethylthio)pyrroles2,3,4,5-Tetrakis(trifluoromethylthio)pyrrole (1) reacts with bases and Lewis bases to give salts and 1: 1 adducts, respectively. The potassium (2b) and sodium salt (2c) as well as the adducts of pyridine (2d), NH3 (2e), and trimethylamine (2f) were prepared. Reactions of the silver or potassium salts with sulfenyl chlorides or SxCl2 (x = 1,2) give N-sulfenylated pyrroles 6a-f as well as dipyrrolylsulfane 5a and -disulfane 5b. Pentakis(trifluoromethylthio)pyrrole (6a) is a good mild sulfenylating agent, exchanging the CF3S group for acidic hydrogen atoms in alcohols, thioalcohols, and amines. The silver salt 2a reacts with CF3SeCl to form 1-(trifluoromethylselenyl)-2,3,4,5-tetrakis(trifluoromethylthio)pyrrole (6g). Except 2a, d, f, all other substances are sensitive against hydrolysis.
Notes: 2,3,4,5-Tetrakis(trifluormethylthio)pyrrol (1) reagiert mit Basen bzw. Lewis-Basen zu Salzen bzw. 1: 1-Addukten.
