    Description / Table of Contents: The Reductive Elimination of the Biphenyl System from Substituted trans-Diphenylbis(triphenyl-phosphane)platinum(II) Compoundstrans-Diarylbis(triphenylphosphane)platinum(II) (aryl = C6H5, 3—CH3C6H4, 4—CH3C6H4, 3—CH3OC6H4, 4—CH3OC6H4, 3—(H3C)2NC6H4) (trans-1a-f) have been synthesized. The trans-configuration in this type of compounds is demonstrated by an X-ray analysis of the parent compound trans-[Pt(PPh3)2(C6H5)2]. The thermolysis of trans-1a-f yields  -  despite the trans-position of the phenyl rings  -  stereospecific reductive elimination of the biphenyl system in a concerted reaction.
    Notes: Die Verbindungen trans-Diarylbis(triphenylphosphan)platin(II) (Aryl = C6H5, 3—CH3C6H4, 4—CH3C6H4, 3—CH3OC6H4, 4—CH3OC6H4, 3—(H3C)2NC6H4) (trans-1a-f) wurden synthetisiert. Die trans-Konfiguration dieses Verbindungstyps wurde zusätzlich durch eine Röntgenstruktur-analyse der Stammverbindung trans-[Pt(PPh3)2(C6H5)2] belegt. Bei der Thermolyse von trans- 1a-f wurde  -  trotz der trans-Stellung der Phenyl-Ringe  -  in einer konzertierten Reaktion stereospezifisch das Biphenyl-System eliminiert. Der Mechanisms dieser reduktiven Eliminierung wird diskutiert.

The differential-calorimetrically measured elimination temperatures and the constitutions of the formed substituted biphenyls are discussed with respect to the reaction path.
    Notes: Die Verbindungen cis-[Pt(PPh3)2(3-XC6H4)2] (X = H, CH3, OCH3, N(CH3)2) (3a-d) und cis-[Pt(PPh3)2(3-XC6H4)(3-YC6H4)] (X = H, CH3, OCH3; Y = CH3, OCH3, N(CH3)2) (5a-f) wurden synthetisiert; bei Temperaturen unterhalb 150°C wird aus ihnen in einer reduktiven Eliminierung stereospezifisch das Biphenyl-System gebildet. Aus den differential-kalorimetrisch gemessenen Zersetzungstemperaturen und den Konstitutionen der gebildeten substituierten Biphenyle werden Aussagen über den Reaktionsablauf abgeleitet.

Linkage between the two phenyl rings to form the biphenyl system occurs exclusively at the carbon atoms bonded directly to platinum.
    Notes: Die Verbindungen cis-[Pt(PPh3)2(4-CH3O-C6H4)2], cis-{Pt(PPh3)2[4-(CH3)2N-C6H4]2, cis-{Pt(PPh3)2[4-(CH3)2N - C6H4](4-CH3O-C6H4)}, cis-{Pt(PPh3)2[4-(CH3)2N - C6H4](C6H5)} und cis-[Pt(PPh3)2(4-CH3O - C6H4)(C6H5)] wurden synthetisiert und ihre Zersetzungs-Temperaturen der reduktiven Eliminierung substituierter Biphenyle differential-kalorimetrisch gemessen. Die Verknüpfung zum Biphenyl-System erfolgt ausschließlich zwischen den unmittelbar an das Platin gebundenen Kohlenstoff-Atomen beider Phenyl-Ringe.
