    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Binuclear Ylide Complex with Metal-Metal Bonding between Gold Atoms in the Oxidation State + II1)The [diethylphosphoniumbis(methylido)]gold(I) dimer 4 reacts with one equivalent of chlorine, bromine, or iodine to give a series of compounds 5a-c, for which a bicyclic structure with a remarkably short transannular gold-gold bond (259.7 pm) is demonstrated by means of analytical and spectral data as well as by an X-ray analysis of 5a. The two metals of formal oxidation state +II are separated by a very short distance.
    Notes: Die aus dem [Diäthylphosphonium-bis(methylido)]gold(I)-Dimeren 4 und äquimolaren Mengen Chlor, Brom oder Jod erhältlichen Verbindungen 5a-c besitzen nach analytischen und spektroskopischen Daten sowie nach einer an 5a durchgeführten Röntgenstrukturanalyse eine bicyclische Struktur mit transannularer, auffallend kurzer Gold-Gold-Bindung (259.7 pm). Die nur durch einen sehr kurzen Abstand getrennten Metalle besitzen formal die Oxidationsstufe +II.

Again extremely short chromium - carbon distances are observed for the organometallic triple bond in both complexes.
    Notes: Durch Strukturanalyse der Titelverbindungen 1 und 2 werden die Einflüsse meridionaler Substituenten in Carbin-Komplexen auf die Metall - Carbinkohlenstoff- und die Metall - Halogen-Bindungen untersucht. In beiden Komplexen werden wiederum extrem kurze Chrom - Kohlenstoff-Abstände für die metallorganische Dreifachbindung beobachtet.

    Description / Table of Contents: Transition Metal Carbene Complexes, XCIII. Pentacarbonyl(diarylcarbene) Complexes of Chromium(0) and Tungsten(0)Pentacarbonyl(arylmethoxycarbene) complexes of chromium(0) and tungsten(0) react with aryllithium compounds at low temperatures to give addition products 1, which on treatment with silicagel/pentane produce pentacarbonyl(diarylcarbene)chromium(0) 2-7, 14-16, and -tungsten(0) 8-13, 17-19. The structures of the diamagnetic, partially very thermolabile compounds were established by analyses, i. r., 1H n. m. r., 13C n. m. r., and mass spectra as well as by an X-ray structure analysis of 16.
    Notes: Pentacarbonyl(arylmethoxycarben)-Komplexe von Chrom(0) und Wolfram(0) reagieren mit Lithiumarylen bei tiefen Temperaturen unter Bildung von Additionsprodukten 1, die sich durch Behandeln mit Silicagel/Pentan zu Pentacarbonyl(diarylcarben)chrom(0) 2-7, 14-16 und -wolfram(0) 8-13, 17-19 umsetzen lassen. Die Konstitutionen der diamagnetischen, teilweise sehr thermolabilen Verbindungen werden durch Elementaranalysen, IR-, 1H-NMR-, 13C-NMR- und Massenspektren, sowie bei 16 durch eine Röntgenstrukturanalyse gesichert.

    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis of Bis-μ-[dimethylarsonium-bis(methylido)]digold(I) and Crystal Structure of Bis-μ-[diethylphosphonium-bis(methylido)]digold(I)The first of the title compounds is obtained in a transylidation reaction from trimethylarsine gold(I)chloride and trimethylarsonium methylide, with liberation of the arsine and formation of tetramethylarsonium chloride. From analytical and spectroscopic data a symmetrical metallocyclic structure 1 is proposed.  -  The x-ray structure analysis of the analogous phosphorus ylide complex 2 confirms this proposal. The molecules are centrosymmetrical and contain two linear C—Au—C moieties in parallel orientation, which are linked by two tetrahedral phosphorus centers. The trans-annular Au—Au distance is 302.5 pm, suggesting a weak bonding interaction of the metals.
    Notes: Aus Trimethylarsingold(I)-chlorid und Trimethylarsonium-methylid ist in einer Umylidierungsreaktion, unter Freisetzung des Arsins und Bildung von Tetramethylarsoniumchlorid, die erste der beiden Titelverbindungen erhältlich. Aus analytischen und spektroskopischen Daten wird eine symmetrische metallocyclische Struktur 1 vorgeschlagen.  -  Die Röntgenstrukturanalyse des analogen Phosphorylid-Komplexes 2 bestätigt diese Vorstellung. Die Moleküle sind zentrosymmetrisch und besitzen zwei lineare, zueinander parallel laufende C—Au—C-Struktureinheiten, die über zwei nahezu tetraedrisch konfigurierte Phosphorzentren verknüpft sind. Der transannulare Au—Au-Abstand beträgt 302.5 pm und legt eine schwache Bindungsbeziehung zwischen den Metallen nahe.

    Description / Table of Contents: Gold Complexes of Diphosphinomethanes, II. Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Eight-membered Heterocycles of Gold(I) with Au-Au InteractionFrom bis[(chloroaurio)diphenylphosphino]methane (1) and additional bis(diphenylphosphino)-methane a metallocyclic complex 2 is formed which is only slightly dissociated in polar solvents. The chloride can be converted into a tetraphenylborate 3.  -  The X-ray structure analysis shows that the two gold atoms of the centrosymmetric eight-membered ring are surrounded by two phosphorus and one chlorine atom in an approximately trigonal planar configuration. The two metals form a surprisingly short Au-Au axis (296 pm), which lies perpendicular to the P2AuCl planes, indicating a transannular metal-metal interaction.
    Notes: Aus Bis[(chloroaurio)diphenylphosphino]methan (1) entsteht mit weiterem Bis(diphenylphosphino)methan eine metallocyclische Verbindung 2, die in polaren Lösungsmitteln nur wenig dissoziiert ist und in ein Tetraphenylborat 3 umgewandelt werden kann.  -  Die Röntgenstrukturanalyse zeigt, daß die beiden Goldatome des centrosymmetrischen achtgliedrigen Ringsystems angenähert trigonal planar von zwei Phosphoratomen und einem Chloratom umgeben sind. Gleichzeitig bilden die beiden Metalle eine auffallend kurze Au-Au-Achse (296 pm), die auf den P2AuCl-Ebenen senkrecht steht. Sie läßt auf eine transannulare Metall-Metall-Wechselwirkung schließen.

    Description / Table of Contents: A Tricyclization of α,β,-Unsaturated Aldehydes with AmmoniaThe Reaction of acrolein with solutions of ammonium sulfate in aqueous sulfuric acid yields 2,6,10-trioxa-13-azatricyclo[7.3.1.05.13]tridecane (1). When using crotonaldehyde instead of acrolein, 3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-trioxa-13-azatricyclo[7.3.1.05.13]tridecane (2) is formed. The structure of these compounds was determined by their i.r., 1H-n.m.r., 13C-n.m.r., and mass spectra. Furthermore an X-ray analysis of an isomer form of the base molecule was made. A reaction mechanism is proposed. Some reactions illustrate the properties to the condensed ring system.
    Notes: Durch Umsetzung von Acrolein mit schwefelsauren wäßrigen Ammoniumsulfat-Lösungen entsteht 2,6,10-Trioxa-13-azatricyclo[7.3.1.05.13]tridecan (1). Bei Verwendung von Crotonaldehyd statt Acrolein erhält man das methylierte Produkt 3,7,11-Trimethyl-2,6,10-trioxa-13-azatricyclo[7.3.1.0.5,13]tridecan (2). Die Struktur der Verbindungen wurde an Hand ihrer IR-, H-NMR-, 13C-NMR- und Massenspektren geklärt. Von einer isomeren Form des Grundkörpers wurde außerdem eine Röntgenstrukturanalyse vorgenommen. Ein Reaktionsmechanismus wird vorgeschlagen. Einige Reaktionen sollen die Eigenschaften des kondensierten Ringsystems näher beleuchten.

    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis and Structure of Germylen-and Nitrogen (Phosphorus)-Germanium Ylide Complexes of Chromium and TungstenPentacarbonyl[dichloro(tetrahydrofuran)germylene]chromium(0) (4) and -tungsten(0) (6) react with silyl thioethers to form the carbene analogous germylene complexes 5a, b and 7. The Ge(SR)2 ligands are proved to be good π-acceptors. Germylene complexes can easily be transformed into ylide complexes (9) by addition of bases. An X-ray structure analysis has been performed with pentacarbonyl[bis(mesitylthio)germylene]chromium(0) (5a).
    Notes: Durch Umsetzung von Pentacarbonyl[dichlor(tetrahydrofurn)germylen]chrom(0) (4) bzw.-wolfram(0) (6) mit Silyl-thioethern werden die carbenanalogen Germylenkomplexe 5a, b und 7 hergestellt. Die Ge(SR)2-Liganden erweisen sich als gute π-Akzeptoren. Germylexe können durch Zugabe von Basen leicht in Ylidkomplexe (9) übergeführt werden. Vom Pentacarbonyl[bis-(mesitylthio)germylen]chrom(0) (5a) wurde eine Röntgenstrukturanalyse durchgeführt.

The reaction is the first example of a stepwise reduction of a metal-carbon triple bond to a single bond.
