Notes: Summary It is possible to record the EMG of both longitudinal and circular smooth muscle fibers with one extracellular electrode. It has been shown that the action potentials synchronous with the contraction of circular fibers always occur after that of the longitudinal fibers. During segmentary contraction the electrical activity of circular fibers remains localized in a narrow ring of muscle; while during the peristalsis it propagates along a variable length. The propagation velocity is approximately the same in both layers. It is very likely that segmentation and peristalsis are not essentially different, the latter being an organized sequency of segmentary contractions. In these two types of motility the circular muscle contraction is driven by the longitudinal muscle one through a mechanism, which we may suppose to be at least partly nervous, because it can be disorganized by hexamethonium.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wird der Einfluß der Lösungsmittel beim Spreiten von Decanol aus Chloroform-, Benzol- und Hexanlösungen untersucht.
Notes: Summary The above study shows that the solvent influence on the monolayer descriptions is not very important. Even if some perturbation occurs in the first seconds of the phenomenon, we can reasonably think that the desorption process as a whole is not modified in any important way by the use of solution to spread the monolayer.

Notes: The three ternary limiting isotherms of the system KCI-RbCI-CsCI-H2O are given for 25°. The system KCI-RbCI-H2O, with only one solid phase present, belongs to the type I of the ROOZEBOOM classification. A large miscibility gap is present in the systems RbCI-CsCI-H2O and KCI-CsCI-H2O; in the latter the incorporation is almost negligible; they belong to ROOZEBOOM's type IV.

Notes: The experimental study at 25°C of the system KCl—RbCl—CsCl—H2O has shown the existence of a new type of quaternary system with formation of mixed crystals.  -  The solubility diagram is characterized by the presence of one univariant line and one binary miscibility gap. Two types of solid solutions are present: (K, Rb, Cs) Cl and (K, Rb, Cs) Cl; the incorporation in the latter is small.
