    Notes: Abstract The NMR based structure elucidation of secondary natural products can be supported by the CSEARCH database system. In the case of the triterpene lupeol the correct identification was performed without further experiments. The structure proposal for the new germacrane derivate hydroxygermacrene-D was proven by isomer generation and subsequent ranking of the eight isomers obtained by weighted spectrum estimation.

Albartin ist ein exo-Methylen-Isomer von 3-Acetyloxy-drimartol-isofraxidin-ether mit-OAc axial und -CH2OAr equatorial. Die chemosystematische Bedeutung dieser Verbindungsklasse innerhalb der GattungArtemisia wird kurz diskutiert.
    Notes: Abstract A new sesquiterpene isofraxidin ether (isofraxidin=7-hydroxy-6,8-dimethoxy-coumarin) was isolated from the roots ofArtemisia alba and characterized by means of1H-nmr,13C-nmr, ms, uv, and ir. Albartin is an exomethylene isomer of 3-acetyloxy-drimartol isofraxidin ether with -OAc axial and -CH2OAr equatorial. The chemosystematic significance of this class of compounds within the genusArtemisia is briefly discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung.  Aus den lipophilen Blattextrakten von thailändischen Glycosmis-Arten wurden vier neue Amide, Glyparvin-A (1), Dihydroglyparvin (2), Khaochamid (3) und Puhinamid (4) isoliert und ihre Struktur mit spektroskopischen Methoden aufgeklärt. Gemeinsames Merkmal aller vier Amide ist eine Phenethylamineinheit mit einer C10-terpenoiden Seitenkette in para-Position, wobei dieser Geranyloxyrest weiter zu einem terminalen 4-Oxo-2-oxolen-Fünfring (einem nicht-lactonischen Dihydrofuranon) transformiert ist. Die verschiedenen Säurekomponenten der Amide sind entweder 3-Methylsulfonylpropensäure (1, 2) oder Isovalerian- (3) und Seneciosäure (4).
    Notes: Summary.  Four new amides, glyparvin-A (1), dihydroglyparvin (2), khaochamide (3), and puhinamide (4) were isolated from the lipophilic leaf extracts of Glycosmis species collected in Thailand. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. All amides have in common a phenethylamine moiety linked with a geranyloxy rest in para-position which is further transformed to an unusual terminal 4-oxo-2-oxolene five-membered ring, a non-lactonic dihydrofuranone. The different acid parts are derived either from 3-methylsulfonylpropenoic (1, 2) or from isovaleric (3) and senecioic acid (4).

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es werden die CD-Spektren von 16 natürlich vorkommenden Sesquiterpen-Umbelliferon-Ethern, einschließlich Farnesiferol A mit allen Isomeren und allen Acetyl- bzw. 6-Oxo-Derivaten, im signifikanten Wellenlängenbereich von 350–200 nm beschrieben. Elf der Verbindungen wurden aus einem „Asa Foetida“-Präparat isoliert, fünf weitere bereits als Naturstoffe bekannte Derivate wurden mittels Acetylierung oderJones-Oxidation synthetisiert. Zusätzlich konnte eine neue Verbindung —Kamolonol (14) — isoliert werden, dessen Struktur durch zweifache Methylgruppenwanderung im Drimenyl-Sesquiterpenanteil charakterisiert ist. Die Strukturemittlung erfolgte mittels spektroskopischer Methoden (1H-NMR, MS, IR, UV und CD).
    Notes: Abstract The CD spectra of 16 naturally occurring sesquiterpene-umbelliferone ethers, including the complete set of farnesiferol A isomers with all acetates and 6-oxoderivatives, are reported over the significant wavelength range of 350–200 nm. 11 compounds were isolated from an “Asa Foetida” sample and 5 further derivatives, already known as natural products, were obtained by acetylation orJones oxidation. In addition, a new compound — kamolonol (14) — was isolated. Its structure is characterized by twofold methyl migration in the drimenol derived sesquiterpene moiety.1H-NMR, MS, IR, UV, and CD data of the new compound are discussed.
