The authors report transport properties of n-type HgCr2Se4 and analyze the temperature dependence of the electron concentration, n. Above 200 K, n decreases with T. For donor concentrations Nd〉nc with nc ≈2×1018 cm−3 the Mott concentration, n saturates below 200 K, but a decrease of n(T) is observed at T≈120 K when Nd〈nc. These features are associated with an increase of the energy gap and the effective mass of the electrons vs T. For all samples, the electron mobility decreases monotonically vs T. It is argued that these properties are associated with exchange interactions between highly correlated 3d electrons.
