Description / Table of Contents:
Summary Cholinesterase from human serum was isolated in a highly purified form from a fraction of the Rivanol-ammoniumsulphate procedure using adsorption to Al(OH)3, zone electrophoresis and chromatography on Sephadex. It proved uniform in the purity tests generally applied in protein chemistry. Its molecular weight was 348,000. The content in the serum determined immunologically is appr. 0.9 mg. per 100 ml. of serum. Its enzyme activity is 10,000 fold that of serum. Cholinesterase concentrated 1,500 fold in an amount of 180 μg was able to protect mice from the lethal dose of succinyldicholinchloride.
