Notes:
Summary A procedure has been developed for the determination of trace phosphate ion using semidifferential electroanalysis based on the reduction of the molybdophosphate adsorbed on a glassy carbon electrode. The molybdophosphate is formed in the presence of excess molybdate in 1N sulfuric acid and adsorbed on a rotating glassy carbon electrode. The semiderivative of reduction current of the adsorbed molybdophosphate is recorded against the electrode potential after medium exchange. The detection limit of phosphate ion was about 1×10−8 M and the standard deviations of measurement were 0.64% for 0.1μM level and 1.98% for 1.0μM level. Two thousands and twenty fold ratios of silicate and arsenate, respectively, did not interfere.
