Notes:
A novel algorithm based on a two-dimensional feature match is presented which compares the local features of the region containing a data point with the characteristics of the symmetry-related area. The proposed method results in a very effective suppression of artifacts and t1 noise ridges, equal to the quality obtained by conventional spectral symmetrization. It is superior to conventional techniques because peak shapes are less distorted, it does not create spurious peaks (at the crossing of ridges), does not remove real cross-peaks when the symmetry-related cross-peak is very weak and retains some of the global spectral asymmetry as important information for computerized evaluation procedures.
