Abstract The formation of complexes of ethoxene with copper, nickel, cobalt, and iron occurs on account of partial opening of the ethylenimine ring and the appearance of a metal-nitrogen bond. The complex of ethoxene with ferric chloride represents an oligomer, formed under the influence of the polymerizing agent ferric chloride. The polymer chain includes 10–12 ethoxene molecules. In the transition from ethoxene to its metallic complexes, an abrupt change in the intensity of the physiological influence upon the organism is observed, expressed, on the one hand, in a sharp intensification of toxicity, and on the other hand, in carcinolytic activity. This intensification of toxicity may be associated with the appearance of a metal-nitrogen bond in the molecule.
