Conclusions 1. For investigations of the accuracy and reliability characteristics of radio measuring instruments one must know their adjustment functions. 2. The form of the adjustment function depends on many factors, both internal and external to the instrument. In the category of internal factors are the design of the adjustment unit, which determines how convenient it is to use, the form of the adjusting characteristic, which governs the sensitivity with respect to a change of the adjustment unit, and also the uniformity of the sensitivity along the scale. The external factors are: the time allotted to an adjustment, the extent of an operator's responsibility for the results of an adjustment, the working conditions, etc. 3. A detailed investigation of the influential factors and a determination of the relationships between them and the adjustment functions permit its form to be predicted for particular items under given conditions so that it becomes possible to evaluate instrument characteristics with great accuracy.
