Notes:
Viscometric data obtained over a temperature range of 0-150°C. for a series of salicyloxymethyldimethyl end-blocked dimethylpolysiloxane fluids have shown that the molecular weight at which a minimum viscosity is exhibited is temperature-dependent. Thus, with decreasing temperature, minimum viscosities were manifested at higher molecular weights. With increasing molecular weight, i.e., increasing siloxane character, the energy of activation of viscous flor (Evisc) not only decreases, but also is less temperature dependent. An empirical expression relating Evisc and temperature for such fluids is presented.
