    Notes: Abstract The precise mechanism whereby gravitational collapse leads to a type II supernova event is one of the most controversial points in the understanding of the final stages of stellar evolution. The ‘bounceshock’ mechanism and the proposed ‘long-term neutrino mediated’ processes compete to explain the ejection of the outer envelopes of the star. Despite their differences, both descriptions consider the shock as mainly responsible for the ejection of the outer mantle in a supernova burst. In this note we discuss results from collapse calculations in which the shock is considered as an interface separating the quasi-static stiff core from the outer mantle. In the models considered the shock fades out and becomes a new boundary surface delimiting the compact homogeneous remnant. The resulting pictures become intelligible in the light of a recently proposed generalization of the concept of adiabatic index for systems where radiation flux is present.

    Notes: Abstract We comment on a method proposed to study the evolution of General Relativistic Radiating Spheres in both radiation limits, i.e. free streaming out and diffusion, extending it to handle any general radiating spherically symmetric distribution of matter. It is also shown that several dynamic models may emerge from a sole static equation of state. Previous erroneous calculations concerning this method are also commented.

    Notes: Abstract A semi-numeric method by Herrera, Jiménez and Ruggeri is used to study the evolution of general relativistic spheres in the free streaming radiation approximation when specific contraction schemes are imposed and for particular oscillatory radiation profiles. On one hand, the emerging radiation is studied for oscillating contracting spheres, on the other, the variation of the boundary surface is analyzed when a pulsating profile is provided. We considered three particular equations of state previously studied. It is found that the oscillatory frequency of the surface for the equations of state considered coincide with the frequency of the oscillation for the radiation profile.

    Notes: Abstract A semi-numerical method by Herreraet al. (1980) is extended to handle the evolution of general relativistic spheres where diffusion and free streaming radiation processes coexist. It is shown when mixed-mode radiation is present a very different hydrodynamic picture emerges from the models previously considered in both radiation limit. Characteristic times for free streaming, hydrodynamics, and diffusion processes are considered comparable. Hydrodynamics and radiation are strongly coupled and the particular equation of state of the model emerges as a very important element in the dynamic of the matter distribution.

    Notes: Abstract The expression of the vector field generator of a Ricci collineation for diagonal, spherically symmetric and non-degenerate Ricci tensors is obtained. The resulting expressions show that the time and radial first derivatives of the components of the Ricci tensor can be used to classify the collineation, leading to 64 families. Some examples illustrate how to obtain the collineation vector.
