Notizen: The principle of the twin-wire resistance probe rotameter is developed in this article. The main feature of the design is a low-cost flowmeter with an electrical output capability. From performance tests conducted on both a simulated rotameter and an actual rotameter constructed based on the principle described, good agreement was observed between experimental and analytical results. It was found that the output voltage from this flowmeter depends mainly upon the material and the size of the float used, and the angle of the taper of the surface of the meter.

Notizen: Abstract. A novel disease affecting the brown-spotted grouper, Epinephelus tauvina Forskal, described here as Sleepy Grouper Disease1 (SGD), resulted in significant economic losses in some Singaporean marine net-cage farms from April to August 1992. Investigations suggested that the aetiological agent was a virus, probably introduced with imported groupers. The virus was provisionally identified as an iridovirus on morphological evidence. The disease caused extreme lethargy in affected fish with few visible external signs. Mortalities either occurred gradually over the week from onset of clinical signs, or over a shorter period and in large numbers if fish were stressed. Consistent tissue changes were seen by light microscopy in the spleen, heart and kidney of affected fish. Electron microscopy showed viral particles associated with damage to cell organelles. In an experimental infection, apparently healthy fish cohabiting with an infected fish developed similar lesions and died. The significance of SGD in grouper culture is discussed.

Notizen: Abstract As recently suggested by Degrassi, Marciano, and Sirlin, the electromagnetic form factor of the neutrino extracted from low energy elastic scattering cross sections ofv μ e and $$\bar v_\mu e$$ can be used to define the neutrino charge radius in the Standard Model in a gauge-invariant way. The complete one-loop contributions to the form factor consist not only the induced γνν vertex but also the Z vertex corrections and theW andZ propagators arise from the counterterm diagrams, and theWW andZZ box diagrams. We show that the neutrino charge radius is a finite and gauge independent quantity in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We consider only the oblique corrections to the neutrino charge radius in our numerical work, because the vertex and box contributions are small. The dependence of the oblique corrections on the supersymmetric parameters in each of the three sectors: Higgs, scalar matter and gaugino sectors are studied by taking into account of the current experimental bounds from LEP.

Notizen: Abstract The complete one-loop supersymmetric (SUSY) correction to the magnetic moment (NMM) of a Dirac neutrino is calculated with allowance for mixing between the scalar leptons and for mixing between theW-gaugino and Higgs fermions. The contribution from the charged Higgs loop is negligible for all practical purpose. We thoroughly study the dependence of NMM on the SUSY parameters. The SUSY contribution to the NMM can be a few times less than or comparable to the value of the standard model (with a right-handed neutrino singlet added). The SUSY correction to the NMM increases with decreasing β value (tan β=〈H 2〉/〈H 1〉), and is not very sensitive to the charged scalar lepton mass.
