Notes:
The results of a detailed noise calculation for a resistance bridge are presented. These results allow one to adapt the design of the bridge to any particular need, while maintaining optimized performance. A bridge has been built based on these results. The measured relative sensitivity of this bridge (2×10−5 with only 10 pW dissipated in the sensor) is ∼40% better than the best previous published results. With minor changes it is shown that this sensitivity can be improved by a factor of 3.
