Transition Metal Methylene Complexes, XLV. A Simplified Synthetic Method for μ-Alkylidene Complexes Demonstrated for the Preparation of Novel DimetallaspiranesThe organometallic complexes 1a and 1b react at the metal-metal double bond with the hydrazones 2a - i in the presence of manganese dioxide to give, via the corresponding diazoalkane intermediates, the μ-alkylidene complexes 3a - i and 4a - c,f,i, respectively. Dimetallaspiranes are also accessible by this procedure for the first time, exemplified by the synthesis of the μ-cyclobutylidene-rhodium complex 3a the structure of which compound has been established by X-ray diffraction techniques; the cyclobutane skeleton is folded (20°) and forms a symmetrical bridge between the two metal atoms.

Die Organometall-Edukte 1a und 1b reagieren an der Metall-Metall-Doppelbindung mit den aus den Hydrazonen 2a - i und Mangandioxid erzeugten Diazoalkanen unter Stickstoffabspaltung übersichtlich zu den μ-Alkyliden-Komplexen 3a - i bzw. 4a - c,f,i. So sind erstmalig auch Dimetallaspirane zugänglich wie z.B. der μ-Cyclobutyliden-rhodium-Komplex 3a, dessen Struktur durch Röntgenbeugung ermittelt wurde. Der Cyclobutanring ist mit 20° gefaltet und liegt symmetrisch zwischen den Rh-Atomen.
