    Description / Table of Contents: Es wurden verschiedene N-alkylsubstituierte Derivate von p-Aminosalicylsäure (PAS) hergestellt, die in Gegenwart von Säure mit Formaldehyd polykondensiert wurden. Die Polymerproben wurden durch Elementaranalyse, IR-Spektren, Viskositätsmessungen, Molekulargewichtsbestimmung und Thermogravimetrie charakterisiert. Sie wurden auch auf ihre pilzbefallhemmende Wirkung gesichtet. Die basenkatalysierte Polykondensation von N-Alkyl-PAS mit Formaldehyd verlief unter Decarboxylierung.
    Notes: Several N-alkylsubstituted derivatives of p-aminosalicylic acid (PAS) have been prepared and polycondensed with formaldehyde in the presence of acid. The polymer samples have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, viscosity measurements, molecular weight determination, and thermogravimetry. They were also screened for their antifungal activity. Base catalyzed polycondensation of N-alkyl PAS with formaldehyde was associated with decarboxylation.

    Description / Table of Contents: Poly-8-hydroxychinolin-furfural (8HQ-Fu) wurde durch Kondensation von 8-Hydroxychinolin mit Furfural in Gegenwart von wäßrigem K2CO3 und NaOH als Katalysatoren hergestellt. Dabei wurden die beiden Reaktanden in äquimolaren Verhältnissen eingesetzt. Die Polymerproben wurden durch Elementaranalysen, IR-Spektren und thermogravimetrische Analysen charakterisiert. Das zahlenmittlere Molekularge-wicht (Mn) wurde durch Dampfdruckosmometrie und nichtwäßrige Titration bestimmt. Grenzviskositäten aller Polymerproben wurden in DMF gemessen.Polymere Metallchelate von Cu2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Ni2+ mit 8HQ-Fu wurden hergestellt und charakterisiert.
    Notes: Poly(8-hydroxyquinoline-furfural) (8HQ-Fu) was prepared by condensing 8-hydroxyquinoline with furfural in the presence of aqueous K2CO3 and NaOH as catalysts using equimolar proportions of the two reactants. The polymer samples were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis. The number average molecular weight (Mn) was determined both by vapour pressure osmometry and by non-aqueous titration. Intrinsic viscosities of all the polymer samples were measured in DMF.Polymeric metal chelates of Cu2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Ni2+ with the 8HQ-Fu polymer were prepared and characterized.

    Description / Table of Contents: Poly(4-Chlorsalicylsäure-Formaldehyd) wurde durch Kondensation von 4-Chlorsalicylsäure mit Formaldehyd in verschiedenem Molverhältnis in Gegenwart verschiedener saurer Katalysatoren hergestellt. Die Polymeren wurden durch IR-Spektren, Molekulargewichtsbestimmung über Dampfdruckosmometrie sowie nichtwäßrige Titration und durch Thermogravimetrie (TGA) charakterisiert. Viskositätsmessungen ausgewählter Proben in DMF und 1,4-Dioxan zeigten das Verhalten von Polyelektrolyten. Die Grenzviskositäten aller Proben wurden in DMF/Wasser 80:20 (v/v) mit 1% (w/v) KBr gemessen; in dieser Lösung zeigten die Polymeren normales Verhalten.Polymere Metallchelate von Cu2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Mn2+, Zn2+ und UO2+2 mit dem Polymeren wurden hergestellt und charakterisiert. Die Chelatbildung und die Ionenaustauscheigenschaften wurden nach der Gleichgewichtsmethode untersucht.
    Notes: Poly(4-chlorosalicylic acid-formaldehyde) was prepared by condensing 4-chlorosalicylic acid with formaldehyde in presence of various acidic catalysts using different molar proportions of the two reactants. The polymer samples were characterized by IR spectra, their Mn determined by vapour pressure osmometry and also by nonaqueous titration and by TGA. Viscosity measurements of selected polymer samples in DMF and 1,4-dioxane showed that solutions exhibited polyelectrolyte behaviour. Intrinsic viscosities of all the polymer samples were measured in 80:20 (v/v) DMF/water containing 1% (w/v) KBr, a medium in which these polymers exhibited normal behaviour.Polymeric metal chelates of Cu2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, and UO2+2 with the polymer were prepared and characterized. Chelation and ion-exchanging properties of the polymers were also studied by employing the batch equilibration method.

    Notes: Oligoimides of N,N′,-4,4′-bismaleimidodiphenyl ether (DDEBM) and 4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) were prepared by the Michael addition reaction. The synthesized oligoimides (DDEBM-DDM) were characterized for their molecular structure by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. The number-average molecular weight (Mn) was determined by nonaqueous conductometric titration. Thermal characteristics were studied by thermogravimetry. Use of DDEBM-DDM oligomers as a curing agent for epoxy resin was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The resin curing of the epoxy was monitored by the change in oxirane spectral band in the IR spectrum. Glass fiber reinforced composites of DDEBM-DDM-epoxy were prepared and evaluated for their physical and chemical properties. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
