Notes: Abstract In different models of arrhythmia, the local anesthetic rihlocaine (rinocaine) exhibits a higher (or comparable) antiarrhythmic activity and therapeutic spectrum than that of lidocaine. Antiarrhythmic activity of rihlocaine may be associated with its effect on sodium and, to a greater extent, on calcium channels.

Notes: Abstract Polyvinyl pyrrolidone prolongs the bactericidal effect of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) by 25–30 times. The antibacterial activity of immobilized NaOCl depends on the polymer concentration in the solution. Excess of polyvinyl pyrrolidone leads to blockade of active groups and reduces NaOCl activity.

Notes: Abstract Cementless slag ash concrete may be manufactured using high-calcium fly ash and silica fume as replacements for a binder and a microfiller, and incorporating slag sand from thermal power plants (TPP) as an aggregate. This concrete consists of waste products from TPP (fly ash and slag) and ferro-alloy plants (silica fume) and contains neither natural nor artificial aggregates for lightweight and heavy concretes. Silica fume (10–20% by weight of ash) and hot water together with subsequent heat treatment of concrete products or of castin situ structures binds the excess free calcium oxide present in the ash, and thus prevents deterioration of the concrete. The processes of concrete structure formation were investigated after 24 hours, 28 days, 3 and 6 months and the physico-mechanical, deformation and special properties (frost resistance, heat conductivity, protection of reinforcement from corrosion) were studied. This concrete conforms to the Russian Federation GOST requirement for use in single, two-storey buildings. The cost of the concrete is reduced by a factor of 3 compared with that of ordinary concrete.

Notes: Abstract The solution of the boundary problem for the backscattering of fast electrons is obtained by means of the invariant imbedding method. The linearization procedure for the equation for the function of reflection is defended. It is shown that the continuous slowing-down approximation gives an adequate description of the reflection of megaelectronvolt electrons. An approach enabling us to estimate the contribution of electrons scattered once, twice, etc. in the energy distribution is developed. This approach gives more information about the electron reflection processes. Energy spectra of electrons reflected in the unit solid angle, energy distribution and total albedo of backscattered electrons were obtained. Comparison with experimental data shows that the theory developed gives satisfactory results for electrons with primary energy about of units of megaelectronvolts.
