Summary The genus Cercarioides Witenberg, 1929 is redefined from studies on its valid species, C. aharonii Witenberg, 1929 and C. ardeolae Oshmarin, 1970. C. aharonii is redescribed from the single type specimen and from new material from Butorides striatus from Kuala Selangor, Selangor, and Kuala Gula, Perak, West Malaysia, and from Hydroprogne caspia and Larus novaehollandiae from Townsville, Queensland, Australia. C. baylisi Gohar, 1930, C. gonacanthodes Deblock, 1966, and C. orientalis Gu et al., 1979 are reduced to synonymy with C. aharonii. A redescription is given of C. ardeolae from Butorides striatus from Kampung Pueh, First Division, Sarawak; Kuala Selangor, Selangor, West Malaysia; Sungai Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; and Pulau Halang, Riau, Sumatra. Condylocotyla pilodora n.g., n.sp., in L. argentatus from the Bay of Marseille, France, differs from other haplorchine genera in its combination of undivided body, absence of gonotyl, genital pore posterior to ventral sucker, discrete lateral pocket with pilose lining, sucker-like ventral sucker armed with spines and sclerotized knobs, and thin-walled seminal vesicle. The life-cycle involves the snail Cerithium vulgatum (natural and experimental) in which magnacercous opisthorchioid cercariae develop in rediae, metacercariae in the pericardial sac of the fish Belone belone, and adults (natural and experimental) in L. argentatus. ac]19831121
