Notes: [Auszug] Small molecules can be trapped, like hostages in a prison cell, by networks of cages formed from another compound. The resulting solids — known as clathrates, or inclusion compounds — have been known about for more than 150 years, but have recently gained media attention for their ...

Notes: [Auszug] ... Jean Rouxel, who died suddenly on 19 March aged 63, had only a few months previously received the highest award that France can bestow on a scientist — the annual gold medal of the CNRS, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. Rouxel was primarily a solid-state chemist, but had ...

    Notes: Mixed valency compounds of formula Cr1-xW1+xO4 have been prepared at 1300°C. Three phases have been identified by X-ray diffraction: one of rutile type for 0.40 ≤ x ≤ 0.50 and two others with rutile-related structures, i. e. of CrWO4-type for 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25 and of WO2-type for 0.80 ≤ x ≤ 1.

Description / Table of Contents: Neue Cobalt(III)- oxide: A0,50La1,50Mg0,50Co0,50O4 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba).
Notes: Three new cobalt(III) oxides A0.50La1.50Mg0.50Co0.50O4(A = Ca, Sr, Ba) with a structure derived from the K2NiF4-type have been prepared using high oxygen pressure. A second order spin-transition has been detected with rising temperature by magnetic measurements and high temperature X-ray diffraction. Based on the analysis of all the magnetic contributions an investigation of the LS → Hs transition within Sr0.50La1.50Mg0.50Co0.50O4 has been carried out.
