Notes: Reactions of Complex Ligands, XI: Stereoselectivity of the Insertion of Ynamines into the Chromium Carbene Bond: First Step of a Two-Step Synthesis of Indanone and Indenone DerivativesPentacarbonyl[methoxymethyl(or phenyl)carbene]chromium (1, 2) reacts with 1-(dialkylamino)-acetylenes (3, 4) in a stereoselective way to give E- and Z-pentacarbonyl(alkenylaminocarbene)-chromium complexes (5-7) via insertion of the alkyne into the metal-carbene bond. The thermolysis of pentacarbonyl[(diethylamino)-E-(β-methoxy-α-methylstyryl)carbene]chromium (7a) in n-decane results in the formation of the tricarbonylchromium complexes of 2-methyl-1-indenone (8) and trans-3-methoxy-2-methyl-1-indanone (9).

Description / Table of Contents: Reactions of Complex Ligands, XXIII. Bis(phosphino)indene Derivatives from Carbon Carbon Bond Formation between Arylcarbene Ligands and Bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylenePentacarbonyl(methoxyphenylcarbene) complexes of chromium and tungsten (1a, 2a) react with bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylene (3) via CO substitution to give binuclear alkyne bridged bis(carbene) complexes (CO)4[CH3O(C6H5) C]M-[(C6H5)2P-C ≡ C-P(C6H5)2]-M(CO)4[C(OCH3)C6H5](4a, 5a). The chromium compound 4a is cleaved on warming to yield the tetracarbonyl-[1,2-bis(phosphino)indene]chromium complex 6a and la. In a one-pot reaction the bis(phosphino)indene derivatives 6a-c are formed directly from arylcarbene chromium complexes (CO)5Cr[C(p-RC6H4)OCH3] (R=;H, CH3, CF3) (1a-c) and 3. The structure of 6c is established by X-ray analysis.

Description / Table of Contents: Reactions of Complex Ligands, XVII. Regiospecific Reaction of 1,4-Enynes with Pentacarbonyl(methoxyphenylcarbene)chromium(0): Preparation of Allyl-substituted 1-Naphthol- and 1,4-Naphthoquinone DerivativesPentacarbonyl(methoxyphenylcarbene)chromium(0) (1) and the enynes 2-5 react on warming in di-n-butyl ether to give the tricarbonyl(2(or 3)-alkyl-3(or 2)-allyl-4-methoxy-1-naphthol)chromium(0) complexes 6-9. Chromatography of these compounds on silica gel under atmospheric conditions results in decomplexation and formation of a naphthol- (9 → 11) or a 1,4-naphtho-quinone derivative (8 → 10). Oxidation of 6-9 with silver(I) oxide leads exclusively to the quinones 12-14 and their tricarbonylchromium complexes 15-17. The products are characterized by spectroscopic methods.

Description / Table of Contents: Vitamin Syntheses via Carbene Complexes, II. Carbonyl Carbene Complex Induced Synthesis of Vitamins of the K1 and K2 SeriesPentacarbonyl(methoxyphenylcarbene)chromium(0) (1) reacts with the isoprenoid enynes 2-6 to give the tricarbonyl(dihydrovitamin K)chromium complexes 7-11. Oxidation of 7-11 with silver(I) oxide leads to the vitamins of the K1 and K2 series 17-21, whereas the 5-10-η6-isomers 12-16 yield the tricarbonyl(vitamin K)chromium complexes 22-26. The syntheses proceed stereospecifically with respect to the isoprenoid side chain.
