Description / Table of Contents:
By heating mixtures of MeIF (MeI = Li+, Na+, Rb+, NH4+, Ti+) with NiF2, the compounds Li2NiF4, NaNiF3, RbNiF3, BdNiF4, NH4NiF3, (NH4)2NiF4, and Tl2NiF4 have been obtained.LiNiF4 has an inverse spinell structure, the other 2:1-compounds cristallise in the K2MgF4-structure. NaNiF3 (orthorhombic) and RbNiF3 (hexagonal) are perovskite-like fluorides. According to the magnetic behaviour these compounds can be divided into three groups:a) normal paramagnetic compounds: b) antiferromagnetic compounds: c) compounds with weak ferromagnetism or ferrimagnetism: The magnetic behaviour is discussed in connection with the structure, the bond-angle Ni-F-Ni and the distance Ni-F.3. The reflexion spectra of some nickel(II)-floride compounds were investigated. It was possible to correlate the lines with transitions in the energy levels of the Ni2+-ion.
Notes:
