Notes: Abstract The possibility of determination of microgram quantities of palladium by radiochemical displacement of labelled Zn from Zn: 1-/2-pyridylazo/-2-naphthol comples has been explored. Conditions for quantitative displacement, a calibration in the range of 40–140 μg of palladium and the effects of diverse ions have been reported.

Notes: Abstract A substoichiometric radiochemical method has been developed for the determination of selenium with potassium ethyl xanthate. The selenium ethyl xanthate complex formed was extracted into chloroform from borate buffer at pH 5. The effect of foreign ions on the extraction was studied. Microgram quantities of selenium could be conveniently determined with a fair degree of accuracy. The method has been successfully applied for the determination of selenium content in food stuffs such as “Jaggery” and “Wheat powder”.

Notes: Abstract An accurate and rapid radiochemical method has been developed for the determination of silver based on the substoichiometric extraction of its complex with potassium 3-phenylmethyldithiocarbazate into chloroform from pH 5.5 acetate buffer. Microgram amounts of silver could be determined with an average error of ±1.1% and the effect of diverse metal ions was critically examined. The method developed was applied to evaluate the silver content of photofilm washings.

Notes: Abstract A radiochemical displacement method has been developed for the determination of nickel and cobalt based on the release of Zn-65 from labelled Zn(PAN)2 [1-(2-pyridylazo) 2-naphthol] complex in chloroform. The displacement behavior of Zn-65 by nickel and cobalt was studied in the pH range 5–7.5. The effect of various ions on the displacement was also examined. 2–20 μg of nickel and cobalt was determined by the aid of calibration plots.

Notes: Abstract A rapid and sensitive substoichiometric radiochemical method has been developed for the determination of microgram amounts of antimony employing potassium ethylxanthate as a reagent and chloroform as an extractant from sulfuric acid medium. The effect of associated ions on the extraction was studied. The method developed was successfully applied to determine the antimony content in standard solutions and synthetic mixture with an average error ±2.07%

Notes: Abstract In the present investigation, a simple and selective radioanalytical method for the evaluation of selenium in microgram amounts by substoichiometric isotope dilution analysis has been developed. Potassium benzyl xanthate has been employed as the reagent. The colorless selenium-benzyl xanthate complex was extracted into chloroform. The influence of various ions during the extraction was also critically examined. The method developed has been successfully applied for the analysis of a few agricultural products for selenium.

Notes: Abstract The comparative extractability of zinc with potassium salts of ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl, and benzyl xanthates from the pH range of 3.5–9.0 into chloroform has been studied, employing a sensitive and rapid substoichiometric radiochemical method. The extent of reproducibility was tested in each case. The effect of associated ions on the extraction was studied. The amount of zinc present in the standard solutions was determined employing each xanthate separately. The zinc content present in geological water samples in and around Tirupati was determined by the method developed and compared with the values obtained by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry.

Notes: Abstract A rapid and sensitive substoichiometric radiochemical procedure has been developed for the extraction of cobalt with potassium salts of ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl and benzyl xanthates. The relative extractabilities of the cobalt-xanthate complexes into chloroform and carbon tetrachloride were studied. Substoichiometric quantification methods were developed in each case and utilised to determine the cobalt content present in standard solutions as well as biological samples.

Notes: Abstract The present work deals with the determination of Cr/III/ by means of the substoichiometric isotope dilution method, using PAN, 1-/2-pyridylazo/-2-naphthol as a complexing agent. Chromium forms a 1∶2 complex with PAN. Heating to 90°C for 3 min was necessary for complete complexation. The complex was extracted into chloroform at pH 3.5 /acetate buffer/. Tens of micrograms of chromium could be determined. Effect of diverse metal ions was also studied.
