Notes: Abstract Neutron spectra from Co59 (p, n) reaction were studied by nuclear emulsion method at 2 values of proton energy and 2 angles. Analysis of measured spectra leads to the conclusion that for excitation energy of residual nucleusE*≦1 MeV a direct process is contribuitng, and above this value a “precompound” decay plays most important role.

Notes: Abstract The angular distributions of tritons from the reaction162Dy (d, t)161Dy were measured. The experimental results were analysed by a Distorted Waves Born Approximation method and the transferred angular momenta were determined for the stronger transitions. The experimental relative intensities of transitions at 90° were compared with those obtained from the Nilsson's model calculations including Coriolis and pairing effects. Eight rotational bands, built on the 5/2+[642], 5/2−[523], 3/2−[521], 1/2−[521], 11/2−[505], 3/2−[532], 1/2−[530] and 7/2+[404] Nilsson states were established. Some new information about the strongly mixed even parity 1/2+[400], 1/2+[660], 3/2+[402] and 3/2+[651] Nilsson states is presented.

Notes: Abstract In this paper the angular distribution of neutrons from the reaction Co59(p, n) Ni59 was measured for six energies of the protonE p lying in an interval between 5·75 and 6·39 MeV. The analysis of these results showed that other mechanisms besides the compound nucleus mechanism play a role in the whole studied region ofE p . Neither their relative contribution nor the exact mechanism were determined.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract A study is made of the nuclear photoeffect on Sn and Cd where, in contrast to most of the experiments with this effect up to now, discreteγ rays were used. The paper complements paper [3], the experimental arrangement of which it has taken over. Several interesting results were obtained — particularly the discreteness of the energy spectrum and the unconventional form of the angular distribution. With tin, the top proton shell of which is completely occupied, the shape of the energy spectrum corresponds to the Wilkinson theory of gigant resonance; with cadmium the energy spectrum is similar to the evaporation spectrum. The angular distributions of the photoprotons of both elements do not satisfy the commonly used relations corresponding to existing theories of nuclear photoeffect. They can, however, be described quite well by empirical equations which contain associated Legendre polynomials of different orders. With both elements the results have features of both a direct and a collective process. The paper gives results, a satisfactory explanation of which would require a new theory including both types of processes.

Notes: Abstract The angular distributions of neutrons from the reaction Co59 (p, n) for 4 values of the proton energyE p=5.23−4.05 MeV have been measured. The preliminary analysis of the results shows that in the reaction mechanism a certain role is played also by a direct process, most probably of a knock-out type, the relative contribution to the reaction yield of which decreases with decreasing value ofE p.

Notes: Abstract Nuclear emulsions were used to study the energy spectrum and forward-backward asymmetry of neutrons from the Co59(p,n) reaction forE p ∼ 6·5 MeV. It was found that the decay of the compound nucleus makes a maximum contribution of 50% to the reaction yield. Energies of some excited states of the Ni59 nucleus were also determined.

Notes: Abstract The inelastic scattering of 12·1 MeV deuterons from162Dy target has been investigated. Angular distributions of the inelastic groups were measured in the region from 30° to 150°. A magnetic spectrograph was used to record the deuteron spectra with an overall energy resolution of ∼15 keV. For the strongly populated collective levels the shape dependence of the angular distributions on transferred angular momentum was studied. The rather different shapes for the rotational and vibrational 2+ levels were observed. The tentative assignment of some other excited states populated by the (d,d′) process in162Dy was deduced.

Notes: Abstract Data on the inelastic deuteron scattering on low lying energy levels in167Er are presented as a supplement to an investigation of this nucleus by the (d,p) and (d,t) reactions. The deuterons with an energy of 12·1 MeV were scattered from an167Er target and were recorded in a high resolution magnetic spectrograph at angles of observation of 60°, 90°, 125° and 150°. Absolute inelastic cross sections for several excited states were determined and discussed in terms of collective excitations and Coriolis coupling of the single particle states.
